We are very happy to announce that we will have a work camp on Storholmen, Vikingabyn, also this summer. Read more about the Vikingabyn on Storholmen here. Watch the film about the Vikingabyn here.
The camp has been a success in recent years and has helped keep IAL going. The dates for summer 2024 are July 10th to August 4th.

The volunteers will help teach visitors traditional crafts, bake bread, help in the cafeteria and other tasks in the village.
One of the volunteers from last summer says that “the best thing is to live the Viking life”. In the evenings they gathered around the fire and listened to stories or shared experiences, sang… and they almost never used their mobile phones. In their free time, the volunteers can sunbathe, swim in the lake, learn about the Viking lifestyle and traditional crafts or go on a boat trip.
The village is an open-air archaeological museum built on the idea that you should be able to live and experience history, not just read about it in books. Why? Meet Britta, the housewife at the camp, and listen to her story in our next post about the workcamp.
Is this your first workcamp? Yes!
Would you like to go to a new workcamp next year? Yes! This one!
Alicia from Spain participated in IAL's Vikingabyn camp on Storholmen outside Norrtälje in the summer of 2023. She enjoyed it very much and wants to return next year. And that's true, the participants who come to Vikingabyn are happy to return as volunteers.
