Volunteer season is approaching. At IAL, we are ready for the summer, but we need a little help from you! Do you know someone who would like to go abroad for 1–2 weeks, meet people from all over the world, and volunteer at the same time?
At IAL we organise local volunteer camps in Sweden, but we are also responsible for sending Swedish participants to volunteer camps abroad. Whether it's your first camp or you're an experienced volunteer, it doesn't matter—you're more than welcome to apply.
Who can apply?
Volunteer camps are open to everyone, regardless of religion, nationality or race. Anyone who is willing to contribute with volunteer work is more than welcome. You may be wondering what makes you the most suitable volunteer?
- You are 18 or older. Most of our workcamps are open to adults, but there are also opportunities for people over 16. Keep an eye out for available volunteer camps.
- You are comfortable speaking English. To ensure a comfortable atmosphere and open communication between volunteers, it is helpful if you can speak English. You do not need to be a native English speaker or have a certificate, what counts is your motivation.
- You are open to adventures and challenges. Volunteer camps are a perfect opportunity to go abroad, meet new people and take a trip beyond the ordinary.
- You like to volunteer. Basically, volunteer camps are about work. We work with children, youth, conservation, culture, event planning and more. There is work for everyone, depending on what your interests and strengths are.

How do you apply?
We have created a separate page on our website with detailed instructions on how to apply for volunteer camps. The process is simple, you first browse through the database with lots of opportunities and apply directly there. You can apply to more than one camp to increase your chances of being accepted.
After you have applied to the camp, send us an email at info@ial.se and tell us which camps you have chosen. If you have any questions regarding the camps or the process itself, please don't hesitate to ask.
After applying, you must pay 1500 SEK for each camp you have applied for to IAL, as well as 150 SEK which is your IAL membership fee. The camp fee covers your accommodation and food. Some camps (usually those organised outside the EU) require an additional local fee to the host organisation—information is always available on the SCI website.
After you apply, wait until the decision is made. If it is "yes", plan your trip and pack a suitcase. In case of a "no" you can either use the paid application fee to apply to another project or contact us for a refund.

How do you spread the word?
We need your help here. Help us spread the word about the upcoming volunteer camp season. If you are part of a youth organisation, volunteer locally, or attend high school/university, print out our posters and hang them somewhere visible. You can either download them as PDFs for printing, or download them below as images for digital use:

If you have any questions about the upcoming volunteer season, or if you would like to become an active member of IAL, contact us at info@ial.se and we will take it from there.
